Overview

Designed to complement Foundations in Decorative Arts and Design, Part I: From Baroque to Art Deco, but also available to take as a ‘stand-alone’, this unique five-day programme introduces participants to the extraordinary breadth and beauty of some of most important and influential houses in southern England. Classroom-based lectures foreground the properties in the social and cultural landscape of their time; guided visits will be led by experts in the field. Covering Restoration, Georgian, Regency, Victorian and early twentieth century architecture and interiors, the course includes trips to Ham House, Syon House, Apsley House, Leighton House and culminates in a day excursion to the exceptional Brighton Pavilion and Brighton Museum and Art Gallery to study the Art Nouveau and Art Deco collections.

Please note that a discounted rate is available to those participants who also enroll for Foundations in Decorative Arts and Design, Part I: From Baroque to Art Deco
