Peter Drucker and the Arts
Sotheby's Institute of Art at Claremont Graduate University invites you to join current, prospective, and former students to celebrate Peter Drucker and the Arts.
Peter Drucker is recognized as a prolific author and the father of modern management theory and practice, but did you know that he was also an amateur art historian and collector, especially of Japanese art? It was his fascination with Japanese painting and history that first brought him to Claremont in 1971.
Speakers will include:
- Juliann Wolfgram, art historian, who will speak about Drucker’s Sanso Collection of Japanese paintings, with which she worked when it was housed at Scripps
- Michael VanHardingsveldt, a current candidate for an MA in Art Business, who will present his thesis work in progress, an exhibition showcasing contemporary Japanese artists who use traditional artistic methods
- Jonathan T D Neil, Director of Sotheby's Institute of Art, who will discuss the roles that Japan and Japanese art played in Drucker’s thinking and how the Sotheby’s Institute has found the ideal partner in The Drucker School of Management at CGU.
When: Friday, November 4, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (PDT)
Where: Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery, Scripps College
251 E 11th Street, Claremont, CA 91711, United States
