Barbara Strongin

Adjunct Faculty, MA Art Business, Los Angeles

Ms. Strongin is a 37-year veteran of the fine art auction industry where she held a number of executive level positions. She served as Director of Administration and Lecturer for Sotheby’s Institute of Art in NY for ten years where she was responsible for handling all operational activities while also contributing as a faculty member for the MA Art Business program.
Prior to that, she served as the Senior Vice President/Director of Operations for Christie’s Auction House over the course of twenty-six years where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations for Christie’s flagship NY auction site.
Ms. Strongin is a licensed Auctioneer and serves as a professional Auctioneer Trainer working with International Fine Art Auction Houses to train their auctioneers.
She has lectured about the auction business to various groups in New York, London, Los Angeles, Boston, Singapore and Hong Kong. She has also lectured at NYU Stern School of Business and NY’s Fashion Institute of Technology.
She recently contributed her time to the Off-Broadway play, Beneath the Gavel, as the Auction Consultant.
