We are proud to introduce our “Alumni Updates” for January/February, 2015. Thank you to all that contributed, and we were very excited about the overwhelming response to our call for information. We will be asking for updates quarterly regarding new professional positions and promotions, new businesses launched, new articles and books published and other significant personal events that happened within the last 12 months*.

Jennifer Angus

Jennifer is the Editor-in-chief at Roman Road , a contemporary art gallery located in the East End of London. Established in 2013, Roman Road is a platform dedicated to bolstering the talents of emerging and mid-career artists.

Marisa Bellani

Marisa is the Founder and Director of Roman Road, a platform dedicated to bolstering the talents of emerging and mid-career artists. Established in 2013, the gallery presents diverse solo and group exhibitions with a focus on photography and contemporary art. Roman Road is located in the East End of London.

Elisabeth Callihan

After having served as the Manager of Adult Programs at the Brooklyn Museum for the past three years, Elisabeth was recently named Head of Multi-Generational Learning at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts where she will oversee public programs for family and adult audiences, as well as community partnerships.

Isa Natalia Castilla

Isa is a co-founder of the Material Art Fair, the first and only fair in México City focused on emerging art. She also started the Young Patrons Association for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Monterrey, México.

Ashley Cecil

After leaving her job at the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council in 2013, Ashley went back to her own art career full-time and added a new medium to her practice - textiles. Within a year, this led to launching a business, landing some dream clients and even meeting President Obama. She owes her new-found appreciation for textile design to her time in London, and her love for spreadsheets to SIA instructor Jeremy Eckstein.

Nicklas Cederqvist

Nicklas works as an antique dealer in Stockholm Sweden and also writes the most widely read blog post on arts and antiques in Sweden, called Antikmonologen.

Tracie Davis

Tracie is now working as a creative assistant for an e-commerce start up called Zola. She is part of the creative team, planning and executing editorial photography and graphic design within the wedding industry.

Lindsay Garcia

Lindsay recently began the MA/PhD track in American Studies at the College of William and Mary where she will be researching intersecting oppressions within art and activism.

Maddie Habanananda Grant

Maddie is a digital strategist based in Washington DC. Her new book with Jamie Notter, When Millennials Take Over, will be out in March 2015. The book describes four key capacities businesses will need to develop in order attract and retain top talent - digital, clear, fluid, and fast.

Caitlin Harpster

Caitlin was recently promoted from Development Assistant to Development & Membership Coordinator at the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh. The Mattress Factory is a contemporary art museum featuring site-specific installations created in residence by artists all around the world.

Mackie Healy

After nearly 4 years at David Zwirner New York in their Communications department, Mackie has transitioned to Third Eye, a new strategic marketing, communications, and brand evolution agency innovating across the worlds of art, architecture, design, fashion, hospitality, and lifestyle.

Elizabeth Feld Herzberg

Elizabeth has recently published her fifth book on American Neo-Classical furniture and decorative arts in partnership with her father, American furniture and paintings scholar, Stuart P. Feld. The book, Very Rich & Handsome, American Neo-Classical Decorative Arts, coincides with an exhibition of the same name held at Hirschl & Adler Galleries, New York, on view through February 13th, 2015.

Jeffrey Hill

Jeffrey is an artist known as "The Vineyard Van Gogh", and is currently working on finishing his second ten foot bronze project for a nearby city. His first sculpture stands in front of the WWCC Enology and Viticulture Center in Walla Walla, Washington.

Michelle Ying-Ying Hsieh

After graduating from SIA, Michelle got a job with Christie's Hong Kong, working as proposal coordinator in Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art department. She was with Christie's Hong Kong for two years. After that, she was recruited to Rockbund Shanghai. She hopes to bring art to people's life and she is in their management training program.

Danielle (Danie) Leigh Isaacs

Danie has been the Fine Art Specialist at in Washington D.C. for the past 2 ½ years. In the fall, she organized a small auction of exceptional African American Art and organized a fundraiser with Howard University to coincide. Recently, she had the pleasure of auctioning off a painting by Ludwig Bemelmans depicting his heroine, Madeline, in Washington D.C.

Katharine James

Katharine started her job as Gallery Associate last April at Catharine Clark Gallery in San Francisco. She was profiled as an Alumna in the history of art department at Syracuse University this past Fall.

Galy Malev

In 2011- 2012, Galy worked in a PR office that promoted galleries, art events and exhibitions. Since 2012, she is currently working in a private company that deals with diamonds, gemstones & jewelry, located in the Israeli diamond exchange center as office manager in PR, customer portfolio management, sorting gemstones, cataloging the company's products with general valuations and managing import/export of the company.

Katherine Malkovsky

After 4 years in Washington, DC, Katherine and her fiancé moved to Boston in December to be closer to family. With the move, job hunt, and a wedding in the spring, 2015 promises to be busy. She's interested in connecting with any Alumni in the area.

Trace Mayer

The owner of Trace Mayer Fine Art & Antiques, Trace will exhibit 89 paintings by the Russian artist, Konstantin Gneushev, at the Antique and Garden Show of Nashville at the end of January as well as other upcoming exhibitions in the first half of 2015. A catalog of the work will be debuted in Nashville and is available on Itunes and Amazon.

Sarah McDermott

Sarah is currently working as the Director of the Boston College (her alma mater from 2007) Arts Council whose mission is to effectively market and plan events for the arts on campus. Her biggest event is a 3-day all inclusive Arts Festival in April showcasing all of the arts the BC community has to offer. Sarah married in October of 2014 to Healthcare attorney, Devin Cohen.

Kristin Nelson

After 6 years of Brooklyn living and Manhattan working in arts & humanities nonprofit-fundraising, Kristin moved to Kansas City, MO in October 2014. As of January of this year, she is the Development Director at the Kansas City Public Library. If any alumni are ever in the KCMO area, feel free to get in touch.

Michael is currently working at Real Madrid C.F. as Advertising, Communications & Online Strategy Manager for the Área VIP-Corporate Hospitality Department.

Lea O'Loughlin

During 2014, Lea O'Loughlin was appointed to the International Board of Directors of Res Artis, the worldwide Network of Artist Residencies. Res Artis is the largest network of its kind, supporting 490 member organisations and individuals in over 70 countries. It promotes and develops the role of residential art programmes as a vital part of the contemporary arts world, stimulates the creative development and mobility or artists and furthers intercultural understanding.

Erika Oman

Erika is currently Assistant Director at Fitz & Co, a leading PR firm with offices in New York and LA focusing on arts and culture.

Uma Parameswar

Following various projects with the Government of India, Uma was nominated by the Government of India to the Board of National Museum where she joins the Minister for Culture, India, and various senior government officials to advocate museum management policy for India.

Sookang Park

MAAB, Singapore, 2009
Sookang is the co-founder and director of AMCompass since 2013. Her first book about the Hong Kong Art scene will be published in late February 2015 (Language: Korean, Publisher: Artbooks, Munhakdongne Publishing Group). AMCompass provides comprehensive and responsive research on the Asian art market, with a special focus on Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Liying Phng

Liying works with Audrey Yeo Wen-Qui (MACA, London, 2010) in the Arnoldii Arts Club, Gillman Barracks Singapore, and serve as the organizers of a Public Art Project entitled DRIVE, which is an initiative to increase visibility of Gillman Barracks Singapore.

Valentina Piscopo

After giving in her dissertation, Valentina got a job in Dubai working for one of the best galleries in the region, The Third Line. The gallery represents mostly established Middle Eastern artists. Her position as Gallery Coordinator includes artist liaison and being part of the sales team.

Steve's first monograph, Steve Sabella - Photography 1997-2014, has been published by Hatje Cantz in collaboration with the Akademie der Künste Berlin and includes texts by Hubertus von Amelunxen and Kamal Boullata. Archaeology of the Future, a comprehensive catalogue from the solo exhibition at the International Center for Photography Scavi Scaligeri, was published by Maretti Editore. Sabella had four interconnected solo exhibitions in 2014, in London, Kuwait City, Verona, and Dubai. The film "In the Darkroom with Steve Sabella" was selected for the 10th Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival.

Natalie Popovic Schuh

Natalie owns Regards, a contemporary art gallery located in Chicago, which opened in July 2014 with a group show entitled Murmurs. Since then she has concentrated on solo exhibitions with emerging artists.

After working at Gagosian in London for nearly four years, Preeya moved to New York and worked for a boutique art advisory and then Pace. She is now the Director of a new gallery, Rosenberg & Co., which will open on the Upper East Side this spring.

Ji Soo completed an internship at Sotheby's London after graduation. She is currently working at K-Auction and is excited for their first Hong Kong sale in March.

Ximena Apisdorf Soto

After working in the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes for the exhibition “En esto ver aquello: Octavio Paz y el arte”, Ximena started to work at International Alliance at the Baroque Museum International, which will open in 2016 at Puebla, Mexico by the architect, Toyo Ito. Julie finished in Deloitte Luxembourg in an interesting position as a consultant for their art and finance department. Since March 2013, she has moved to Christie’s London working as a market intelligence analyst, working primarily on competitive reporting and strategic planning for art departments.

Currently, Jennifer is the art consultant for Winvian, a boutique inn and spa located in Morris, CT. She is also the owner of LivWill Art, where she advises clients, represents artists and organizes pop-up shows. She just had her first cyber gallery show on her website: Winvian. They celebrated with 55 artists from 22 different countries working in all media represented on the website, customers in the UK & Ireland, Europe, North America and Australia, and with their first ‘offline’ exhibition with 7 international artists in Berlin.

Through the Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Janet has been the chief researcher on the catalogue raisonne project of graphic works by the great American collagist, Romare Bearden.
